Now I' not talking about your gym shorts or PJs of course, but I can tell you from experience, you're pictures will turn out much better if you are comfortable and confident with what you're in. If you're constantly having to rub your feet because of your shoes or keep wondering if you're going to have a nip-slip, change!
Know your body
'nough said! Don't wear what's on the latest runway just because it's in style. Dress to show off your assets!
Don't be afraid to mix and match
Please! No more white shirt/khaki pant combo! Don't be afraid to wear colors. Pops of color throughout your family is a great way to tie you all together without being stuck in the 90's.
Maternity DOs and DONTs
Less is more when it comes to your bump. Simple, light colors tend to photograph better and allows you to show off that baby holder the way it should be!
AVOID solid black. Although this is a slimming color and you're probably feeling like Shamu (even though I can tell you you look beautiful!) please avoid black. It hides your belly! If your paying for a maternity shoot, I want to see that bump!Patterns are hit and miss. Horizontal stripes...ehh, I'd say leave them at home. Use your judgment and when in doubt, bring a change of clothes!
Your outfits should reflect your relationship! If you like to dress up and go out on the town, by all means! Slap on those strappy sandals and tie that tie because I love a good formal/fun shoot. If you are sports buffs and cringe at the thought of wearing a dress, wear your jeans and favorite sports team. Don't dress like people you aren't.
General tips and tricks
Please please please! No logos! Unless you are doing a super hero themed family shoot (totally awesome idea by the way!), I do not want to see t-shirts with BILABONG or GUCCI scrawled across the front. Plain t-shirts, Polo's or patterned button down shirts are best. I suggest bringing a change of clothes for some variety and just in case of accidents.
Just be yourself and you'll be beautiful!
